Murder acquittals and three convictions in a case arising from a fatal Langley Park shooting. Both parts of the verdict matter.
What the jury decided
The jury acquitted Turcious of first- and second-degree murder. It convicted him of attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder of another person, and prohibited possession of a regulated firearm, according to the May 20, 2025 report. That report described a future sentencing date; this page does not state a later sentence or appeal outcome.
What was at issue
The prosecution argued that Turcious bore responsibility under accomplice liability and transferred intent theories in a 2024 shooting that killed two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres and injured his mother. Hiller challenged the identification of Turcious and the credibility of a cooperating witness. He also argued that no physical evidence linked Turcious to the shooting.
The jury deliberated over three days. A mixed verdict cannot fairly be reduced to a simple win: the acquittals on the murder charges sit alongside serious convictions.
